For grown-ups supporting young people.
We know that when a young person is struggling with education, it can be hard for the people supporting them too.
When attendance becomes difficult, relationships between home and school can sometimes become strained. Parents can feel caught in the middle, schools can feel unsure about what is happening at home, and the young person can end up feeling like everyone is talking about them rather than with them.
We want to help bridge that gap.
By working alongside young people, parents, carers and schools, we can help everyone develop a better understanding of what might be going on underneath the non-attendance and work towards a more joined-up way forward.
Hard to Human also offers parent and carer support, including one-to-one support and courses designed to help adults understand anxiety, behaviour and emotional responses, navigate difficult moments and find practical ways to support their young person at home.
It’s not about telling anyone how to parent — or deciding who is right or wrong.
It’s about getting everyone back on the same team, rebuilding communication and finding a way forward that feels manageable for the young person and the adults around them.
Hard To Human is based in Chichester, West Sussex.
